2008 Car

Still Breathing in the last of the lingering fumes from a  highly successful past couple seasons, Ryerson Formula SAE  was eager to excel in 2008,  and to excel in a way they never  had  before. Anticipation was high and Designs were new, but  it paid off. Ryerson was proud to represent the University, and  the Country as the only Canadian team registered at the  Formula Student event held at the prestigious Silverstone race  track in England. With an 18th place finnish the team left  proud and well received by judges and competitors alike.

For the 2008 season and the RF08 car the team wanted to shed weight while keeping the structural rigidity and reliability of previous years designs, this was done with an emphasis on weight saving designs and research into material selection for key components such as the drivetrain. With a completely redesigned drivetrain it was possible to save several pounds of mass in the rear of the car as well as cut down on rotational mass.
